Wastewater Treatment Plant Hire

The largest copper producer in Western Australia needed to replace their existing containerised sewage treatment plant as it was badly corroded and had deteriorated beyond economic repair. Whilst the existing plant was only 5 years old the external structure was badly corroded and the client was concerned that there would be a major failure. The material selection for the biological tank was the main issue where mild steel with only a standard paint specification was used, but as sewage is highly corrosive this had not stood the test of time. MAK Water’s 15 year design life using FRP tanks was selected to provide a complete design, manufacture and installation package for the replacement sewage treatment plant. MAK Water worked closely with the client to design a fit for purpose, long term solution that met the required treated effluent quality.

A western Sydney Caravan park that has been established for over 40 years was having issues with their old WWTP. Problems with the system included poor control of equipment, bad odour particularly during peak times and heavy solids carry over. The local council required the system to be improved for it to be able to continue to discharge its effluent. MAK Water initially went to site to investigate the problems and provide a report and recommendation. The recommendations from the report included replacement of the electrical control panel, upgrade of the air supply and addition of coagulant dosing for TSS and TP control, which were later installed as the most cost-effective solution.

The Lithium Project, located in Western Australia’s Remote Pilbara region, commenced production in 2018 and has a production capacity of 220,000 tpa of quality spodumene concentrate. Due to large demand for high quality processing water, MAK Water were engaged to put a team in place to manage the mine site water infrastructure, enabling the client’s personnel to focus on their core business. The Operations Agreement is for the provision of plant operation, technical support, onsite maintenance (both planned and emergency), and the supply of consumables required for normal plant operation.

The Gorgon Gas Project is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and the largest single resource development in Australia's history. As construction neared completion, the project had an urgent requirement for temporary hire of two demineralised water systems, each to produce 20 m3/hr of high purity water (EC <1 uS/cm, pH 6.5~7.5, silica < 20 ppb) for use in commissioning the main gas plant. MAK Water operates a large Reverse Osmosis (RO) hire fleet and was able to supply the plants within a very short period of time. Furthermore, MAK Water provided the ancillary equipment (tanks, hoses and pump skids) for turnkey, plug and play installation on site. Remote monitoring and monthly service and maintenance visits ensured maximum reliability.

An Australian gold miner was interested in automating their final polishing system at the back end of a 200m³/day Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) wastewater treatment plant. MAK Water was selected to investigate the feasibility of upgrading the old bag filter system to a more modern, effective and reliable duty/standby Multimedia Filtration (MMF) system in a 2x 100% configuration, with each vessel capable of taking full daily flow requirements to minimise down time during backwash. The MAK Water team worked closely with the client to re-design a fit for purpose, long term solution that complies with the Australian environmental discharge guidelines.
