Oil Water Separators

QR National (Queensland Rail National, now Aurizon Holdings) required a wastewater treatment solution, to treat effluent from the truck and container wash bay at their transport depot, to a standard complying with Brisbane City Council’s trade waste guidelines. As a renowned specialist in design and manufacture of wash bay wastewater treatment systems, MAK Water was engaged by QR National to design, manufacture, install and commission a plant, to treat 10,000 litres per day of combined truck and shipping container wash bay wastewater.

Akuna Bay Marina in NSW required a treatment system to treat the waste stream from the Marina hardstand. The waste stream comprised general wash down of vessels during servicing and hull cleaning processes. The site has no access to a sewer for trade waste discharge, so wastewater treatment was required to enable treated wastewater to be discharged to the environment.

A large national fuel retailer had a requirement to treat their waste water prior discharging to a sewer network. As a means of compliance and to ensure the local sewer network and environment was protected, the fuel retailer has purchased and installed a number of MAK Water’s ClearmakeTM Oil Water Separators across their sites nationally.

Washdown water at mechanic workshops requires treatment prior to going to trade waste. A large national tyre and auto company who takes their environmental obligations seriously, went through a process to assess the Clearmake TM Oil Water Separator (OWS) to ensure that it met not only their environmental obligations but also provided long term cost effective, reliable operation. As a result, MAK Water’s Clearmake TM Oil Water Separators have been installed in multiple sites across the country since 2006.

The Roy Hill project needed a robust wastewater treatment solution that could separate free-floating hydrocarbons in the wastewater stream from their workshop and heavy vehicle wash down water. The mine site is remote and requires highly reliable and efficient equipment which allows the operation to maintain high availability and meet the mine sites strict environmental targets. The oil water separator package was one of five packages for this project that MAK Water was engaged to complete as a result of its experience in delivering water treatment plants to the mining industry. The scope was to design and construct two Oil Water Separators (OWS) to treat wastewater from the mine site’s fixed plant workshop and crushing stations prior to discharge to tailing ponds. The plant was constructed to customer specific engineering and design specifications, using the project preferred electrical equipment, and supplied with a site specific vendor drawing and data package. MAK Water provided commissioning of the plant.

A large international company that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products, required a wastewater treatment solution to treat effluent from the wash bay at their reconditioning facility to a standard complying with Sydney Water trade waste guidelines. MAK Water was asked to undertake a comprehensive bench testing program and subsequent validation of the proposed wastewater treatment process. The client then engaged MAK Water to design, manufacture, install and commission a plant to treat up to 20,000 litres a day of wash bay water contaminated with oil & grease.
